What is Network Video Recorder :<\/strong><\/p>\n

A Network Video Recorder<\/a> is a device that records video in a digital format & typically deployed for IP video surveillance system. It is a specialized computer system that includes a software program that records video in a digital format to a disk drive or to other form of mass storage device. An NVR contains no dedicated video capture hardware. However, the software is typically run on a dedicated device, usually with an embedded operating system. Alternatively, to help support increased functionality and serviceability, standard operating systems are used with standard processors and video management software.<\/p>\n

An NVR is unlike a normal DVR. A DVR needs a direct connection for video input to a video capture card or tuner. Whereas for NVR the input comes from a network. For DVR video is encoded & processed at the recorder level. But for NVR this encoding & processing takes place at the camera & then streamed to NVR for storage or remote viewing.
